About uPVC Sliding Windows
A sliding window is made up of glazed sashes that move horizontally along tracks set into the frame, instead of swinging inward or outward. Each sash stays within the width of the opening at all times, so the window can be opened and closed without needing any clearance inside or outside the room.
Sliding windows are among the most widely used window types in Indian homes and projects. They suit wide openings, they can be divided into two or more panels to keep individual sash sizes manageable, and part of the opening can be kept permanently glazed while the rest is used for ventilation.
From an architectural point of view, the horizontal emphasis and slim sightlines of a sliding window fit well with contemporary elevations. Large glazed areas bring daylight deeper into the room, while the track arrangement determines how much of the opening can be ventilated at one time. Configuration, glass, finish and hardware can all be selected to suit the space rather than forcing the space to suit the window.
Operation is simple and repeatable: the sash is guided by rollers running along the track, and a handle with a suitable locking arrangement holds the sash in position when closed. Because there is no hinge or swing arm, sliding windows tend to be straightforward to use every day, including in rooms where furniture sits close to the wall.
You will commonly find them in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, balconies, staircase openings, offices and commercial interiors — and in renovation work, where an existing opening has to be re-used without altering the masonry.
